Gait & Balance Disorders (Ataxia)

Ataxia is characterized by poor coordination and unsteadiness of the body due to the brain's failure to regulate the body's posture and the strength and direction of limb movements. There are many causes for ataxia. Despite complex medical work-ups, sometimes the reason for ataxia remains unclear. After treating the symptoms, management of ataxia usually includes supportive care but also may include physical, occupational and speech therapy.
